Swimmer Jono Ridler is making his way down the coast as part of his ambitious Swim4TheOcean challenge, an incredible journey raising awareness for ocean health. As he reaches Ahuriri, locals are invited to come together and give him a huge Hawke’s Bay welcome.

The Ahuriri waterfront will be buzzing early this weekend as swimmers hit the water for the Napier Port Ocean Swim.

Ahuriri will be off and running this weekend as the Napier Triathlon Festival returns to Ahuriri Beach on Sunday 1 March 2026.

With swimming, cycling and running all part of the action, it’s safe to say the suburb will be doing a bit of everything as athletes take on the Tri-er and Sprint distance races.
