Napier Triathlon Festival in Ahuriri
Ahuriri will be off and running this weekend as the Napier Triathlon Festival returns to Ahuriri Beach on Sunday 1 March 2026.
With swimming, cycling and running all part of the action, it’s safe to say the suburb will be doing a bit of everything as athletes take on the Tri-er and Sprint distance races. The event is part of New Zealand’s summer triathlon calendar and welcomes competitors of all levels, from first-timers to those aiming to qualify for age-group championships.
Find your spot along the route, cheer on the athletes, and get warm up with a hot coffee or baked treat in hand.
Please note that road closures will be in place around Ahuriri during the event. Closures will run from Friday 27 February (6am) through to Sunday 1 March (6pm) and will affect several key routes, including:
• Hardinge Road
• Macaulay Street
• Nelson Quay
• SH50 / Ahuriri Bypass
• Surrounding streets in the area
Businesses and visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
