Worth the Trip This Winter: Ahuriri's Best Winter Deals

When winter hits, it's easy to stay close to home. Colder days, darker evenings, tighter budgets — heading out can feel like a bigger decision than it used to be.

But a good night out doesn't need to cost a lot. This winter, we've pulled together some of the best local deals across Ahuriri, so you can get more from your day or evening without stretching your spend. Easy midweek dinners, long lunches, waterfront favourites — the kind of simple winter comforts that still feel like a treat.

Because if you're going to make the trip, it should feel worth it. Here are a few of our favourites on the menu right now.

Madame Social — Long Lunch, Done Right
If your idea of winter comfort is great food shared in a warm, lively room, Madame Social's Feed Me menu is built for exactly that. $37pp, daily 11am–3pm.

The Gintrap — A Deal for Every Day
Honestly, there's a reason to stop in no matter what day it is — $20 beer and burger Mondays, $30 lamb shanks Tuesdays, $59 shuck and chardy Thursdays, and the famous $30 scotch fillet on Wednesdays and Sundays. What really stands out for us, though, is the weekend — Saturdays from 4-6pm, you can enjoy all their cocktails at better prices. Hello, that's your weekend sorted.

Shed 2 — Winter Classics, Waterfront Views
There's nothing quite like good comfort food with a view to match. Shed 2's midweek specials run the gamut — woodfired pizzas, burgers, steak, fish and chips — all from $30, all week long. One of our favourites about this spot? All day, every day, they're serving fresh or battered oysters at $4 each (until sold out). You'd struggle to find better value anywhere than that. Chef Kerran tells us the locals can't get enough of this one — make sure you check it out.

Winifred's — Midweek Comfort Food
Winifred's has become a genuine local favourite since reopening on the Ahuriri waterfront just over a year ago, and it's easy to see why — a beautiful spot with food that never disappoints. If you haven't checked it out yet, add it to your list. Steak on Tuesdays, ribs on Wednesdays, curry on Thursdays — all from $30 to $35 with a drink included. The kind of meal that makes a cold evening completely worth it.
