Fresh Air Zone Smokefree Policy
In November the Napier City and Hastings District councils adopted a Smokefree Policy, aimed at providing more smokefree public places. In response to a survey and public submissions on the draft policy, the following places have been included:
• Council owned urban parks, sportsgrounds, playgrounds and reserves (except beach reserves), including any events held in these areas
• A 10 metre perimeter around all public entrances to Council owned buildings, and the forecourt of the Civic Building.
• A 10 metre perimeter up to and including bus stops and bus shelters
• Footpath dining areas
You will start seeing signs related to the Policy in these places over the coming months. The policy is educational rather than enforced.
