Port Ahuriri
The historic Port Ahuriri continues to be an important part of Ahuriri today. The inner harbour remains a discharge wharf for numerous fishing vessels.
Maintenance of vehicular access for fishery company trucks is vital. No alternative wharf facilities are available within the fishery catchment for these vessels.
Limited berths are available for larger vessels at the Port of Napier, but the Port of Napier does not cater for the smaller vessels moored at the Inner Harbour. The buzz of activities generated by fishing vessels, along with children's wharfside fishing, pleasant walking areas and plenty of nearby cafes makes Port Ahuriri and the West Quay area a popular stop, particularly during weekends. |
