There's so much happening in Ahuriri... new shops being built, new homes under construction, even more cafes, bars and restaurants to enjoy.
Ahuriri has been attracting a lot of attention lately and not just in Hawke’s Bay.
The fantastic seaside suburb has been included in two travel articles in national newspapers. It was included as one of Napier’s top five attractions in an article in the ‘Herald on Sunday’ “Sunday Detours” travel section.
“AHURIRI – In the past few years this portside suburb of Napier has blossomed from a rundown band of warehouses to a vibrant spot perfect for whiling away weekends. Whether it’s cosied up on a winter’s Sunday with a drink, food and even an open fire in one of the bars and restaurants along West Quay by the wharf, or wandering along the beach, Ahuriri is definitely worth a visit.”
Ahuriri also featured in an article about Hawke’s Bay in ‘The Dominion Post – Travel Section’.
“The Ahuriri region near the Napier port has been reborn in recent years. Apartments, pubs and cafes have mushroomed, and off the main drag sit some cute historic cottages. We tucked into a great lunch of meatballs and spaghetti at Regale Eatery before heading into the town centre for an art deco tour.”
Napier Mayor Barbara Arnott was right on the button when she said in her welcome message in the newly printed Ahuriri Guide that “Ahuriri is no longer Hawke’s Bay’s best kept secret”.
Now that the Ahuriri Guide 2008/09 is out, there is no doubt that many more people will discover the secret too! To request a copy, please
