Ahuriri Business Association
The Ahuriri Business Association was officially launched in 2008 by a small but dedicated group of local business owners.
Establishing the association was quite an achievement! It's hard work getting an organisation on its feet, and it's an even greater challenge to form an association without any proper funding.
In 2007 a steering committee was set up to establish a business association funded by a levy collected via rates; this is how similar organisations around Hawke’s Bay and the country are funded. Due process was followed and landowners voted against the levy by a very slight majority, thus a levy was not put in place. Despite this funding set back, volunteers formed an incorporated society in 2008 and the Ahuriri Business Association was officially launched.
Today the association is going strong, with over 40 members and a promotional programme of activity designed to raise awareness of Ahuriri locally, nationally and internationally.
The role of the association is to:
Lead, motivate and inspire stakeholders
Promote the Ahuriri brand
Communicate with stakeholders
Be the ‘voice’ of Ahuriri businesses
Liaise with Napier Inner City Marketing
