What's happening in Ahuriri

Optimist Dinghy Association (IODA) 
World Sailing Championships to be held in Napier from 28 December 2011 -10 January 2012. Get ready to welcome over 250 youth competetors from over 50 countries when they arrive in Ahuriri during December 2011 for the Optimum World Championships Regatta. This is the first time the event has been held in Australasia! At a recent information launch the following figures were given:
Over 250 youth will be competing, At least 750 adults will accompany the sailors, About 270 specially made Opti boats will be needed! Over 1000 beds will be needed
Many teams will arrive around Christmas and stay longer after mid-January
The local economy could be boosted by $5million plus!
