Road
Signage Survey
The ABA has prepared a submission which is now before the
NCC. It is hoped that with your help we
will soon be seeing the brown signage around Napier directing locals and
visitors alike towards Ahuriri. From the
survey responses we received, 89.18% supported the suggested wording and there
were 4 other suggestions, all of which were included in the submission to the
NCC. Thank you again to all who
participated, your support is appreciated.
Clean-up
Ahuriri Day
The ABA held a Clean-up Ahuriri Day on Sunday 20 November
2011, meeting at Perfume Point, Nelson Quay, Ahuriri, starting at 9am and
finishing around 11am. Around 25 people
came along and assisted in picking up rubbish from around Ahuriri. In all we filled over 25 black rubbish bags
and don’t doubt there is still more rubbish to be found! Despite it being a very blustery day which
made for some energetic chasing after paper, everyone enjoyed their time out in
the fresh air. This is an event that we
will repeat, but in the meantime if you see some rubbish that may be missed by
our regular NCC rubbish collectors then please be a tidy Kiwi and pick it up
for disposal! Many thanks to all who
gave up their Sunday morning, it was a good job done! Our thanks also go to the NCC for the
provision of the black rubbish bags and gloves, and for the collection of all
the filled bags. Red Peach Gallery

Nicholas Hayter, Brent Redding, Lance O'Gorman, Helena Blair, Des Robertshaw. You can also view a selection of small

Princess Alexandra Village in
Ahuriri
We are at the end of a busy year that has seen the NZSO
Quartet, RSA performers, Jim Joll and Debbie Dorday, and Elvis perform at the
Village. Each month has seen entertaining and informative speakers visit
including Members of Parliament in the build up to the election – which is all
history now! We also hosted our annual bowls
tournament in May that was won by Bowls Taradale. Our weekly Happy Hours are legendary and this
month we have our Xmas pot luck happy hour with complimentary drinks and
entertainment by 'No Wurez'. The
highlight for December is our annual ‘Great Long Xmas Lunch' - a sit-down Xmas
dinner with drinks for 150 residents. We
find an excuse to put this on three times a year – Easter and Mid Winter.
At the moment we have a gorgeous 1st floor
serviced studio with ensuite and kitchenette for sale. It is north facing with a sunny balcony. If you love Ahuriri and are considering a move
it is well worth viewing this studio. Please ring Janet Coutts, Sales Advisor,
0n 06 8359085 and come for a complimentary lunch and tour of the village.
The Old
Custom House
The summer opening hours have
begun with the Old Custom House now open EVERY Sunday 11am to 4pm, (closed on
Public Holidays) until Easter 2012. If

amazing collection of photos of old Ahuriri and more to behold. Recently a new exhibit as been donated to the
Old Custom House, the chest that belonged to Robert Holt and contains his
handmade tools. The chest travelled with
him when he first came to New Zealand in 1859. Robert Holt was the founder of what is today known locally as Carter
Holt.
Also being held in the Old Custom
House on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month is a
craft market, from 10am. Why not go
